Overview
Construction of one of two new buildings to support operations at the Port of Houston Bayport Terminal complex, the Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Building is a 65,000 SF two-story structure. The building provides 27,460 SF of drive-through, open-chassis repair bays with overhead roll-up doors, as well as electrical, engine rebuild machine and tire shops. The other 37,540 SF includes offices and administrative areas, conference room, communication room, libraries, break rooms, male and female toilets with shower and locker rooms and equipment storage, including storage for electronic parts. The parts storage area has the features of mobility storage.
Sustainable design principles were included in the design and construction of the LEED Silver project. The project also required substantial underground storm-sewer and electrical duct bank system work and heavy, highway-type paving.
