Overview

This design-build construction of a massive 200,000 SF facility features 12 maintenance bays for the medium-altitude, long-endurance Gray Eagle aircraft. The project was designed and constructed to meet LEED Silver certification and features high-efficiency building envelope, HVAC, lighting/electrical, and solar domestic hot water/plumbing systems.

Construction of the UAS hangar bay consisted of a pre-engineered metal building with total open area of approximately 92,000 SF. The main truss is 276’ long and 28’ deep, with a clear height of 35’ from top of slab to bottom of the truss.

Satterfield & Pontikes achieved a high level of quality in the construction of the hangar by working as a team with RS&H, subcontractors, and the USACE Fort Worth District’s project staff. Accurate submittals and adherence to the USACE preparatory and three phase inspection process helped ensure the project was properly planned and executed, delivering a high-quality product, on time and within budget, without accidents.
