Overview
Cibolo Green Elementary School was one of the first ‘green’ schools in the North East Independent School District and the greater San Antonio area. Satterfield & Pontikes constructed the environmentally friendly and energy-efficient school to meet LEED Silver standards, which include requirements such as improved air quality systems, the use of recycled and non-toxic building materials, and energy-saving systems throughout.
The new elementary school offers students an upbeat, inviting environment, with nine different wall colors, corridor flooring with multi-colored themes and patterns, and emphasis on increased natural light that bathes the atrium, common areas, cafeteria and classrooms. Satterfield & Pontikes constructed many state-of-the art features, including learning centers throughout the facility with instructional viewing windows into mechanical rooms as well as in-wall windows that allow students to view labeled building components such as steel columns, metal studs, insulation, piping and wiring.

“Not only did Satterfield & Pontikes keep pace with an aggressive and time-sensitive construction schedule, finishing the project on-time for start of the 2010 school year, but did so while executing the District’s first LEED project targeting a Gold Certification rating. Satterfield & Pontikes did a masterful job orchestrating the daily LEED building requirements and construction waste management operations.”
