S&P Wins Third Place at AGC Construction Safety And Excellence Awards

Satterfield & Pontikes (S&P) has been recognized with a National Construction Safety and Excellence Award (CSEA) by The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) at its recent 2023 Annual Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. S&P placed third in the Construction Management Category division for firms with 250,000 – 700,000 work hours.

The AGC Construction Safety and Excellence Awards (CSEA) recognize companies that have developed and implemented excellent safety and loss prevention programs achieved through management commitment, employee involvement, and program innovation.

“At S&P, the safety of our employees, subcontractors, and clients is our top priority,” says John Marshall, S&P Chief Revenue Officer. “This award underscores the absolute commitment of our team to the highest safety standards across all our projects.”

Members of the national AGC Safety & Health Committee reviewed comprehensive applications before selecting S&P as a divisional category finalist. The company then competed in-person at the national annual conference before securing the third place honor.

S&P maintains a company-wide commitment to safety, training and the development of and adherence to the strictest safety processes and procedures in the industry. Our Meet or Exceed safety program is a significant contributor to our ability to continually achieve extraordinary safety results. Although S&P’s safety approach is based on OSHA standards, the Meet or Exceed program takes project safety a step further by comparing the safety specifications of OSHA, project owners and subcontractors, as well as our own safety program, and applying the most stringent requirements into every facet of each project.

Another contributor to S&P’s safety success is our proprietary Safety Observation Signal (SOS) to track and trend leading safety indicators. S&P site personnel conduct ‘safety walks’ and record at-risk events within the SOS system. Any safety violation, regardless of significance, is corrected and recorded. Information is maintained in a project management database that allows populated reports to alert management to areas in need for additional training.

“At Satterfield & Pontikes, safety is not just a buzzword but a way of life,” says George A. Pontikes Jr., S&P founder and Chairman. “We are committed to creating a safety culture that permeates every aspect of our operations, from our management practices to our job sites. Our safety program is not just about compliance but about creating a safe and healthy work environment that promotes employee well-being and job satisfaction. We are honored to receive this award and we will continue to prioritize safety in all that we do.”
