S&P Promotes Michelle Barnett to Chief Financial Officer

Satterfield & Pontikes Construction (S&P) has promoted Michelle Barnett to Chief Financial Officer. She most recently served as the Controller for the S&P Family of Companies and has been with the company since 2017.

In her role as CFO, Barnett will be responsible for leading the finance department, providing oversight for the company’s financial operations, and contributing to the long-term financial strategy for the S&P Family of Companies.

“The transition has been seamless. She already understands job cost controls, the operation side of the business, how to drive strategy, markets and margins. I have every confidence that the rest will come quickly to her. That’s the beauty of promoting from within, you’re not starting anew,” says Laura Pontikes, S&P Founder.

Before her appointment as CFO, Barnett had amassed more than 35 years of experience as a controller, which greatly contributed to her extensive expertise in accounting.

“S&P is a special company and I have big goals and big targets to hit. We have the right processes and controls in place, so now it’s really a matter of standardizing and streamlining our processes so we can keep up with the growth that we’re experiencing” says Barnett. “It’s about balancing flexibility and the ability to pivot with accountability and controls. This is such an exciting time to be in the construction industry and here at S&P specifically.”
