S&P Joins Katy ISD for the Dedication of Youngblood Elementary School
During a touching dedication ceremony held on March 5th, David & Terri Youngblood were celebrated as the namesakes for the newly established David & Terri Youngblood Elementary School in Katy Independent School District (Katy ISD). Satterfield & Pontikes Construction (S&P) had the honor of being the general contractor on the project.
Through heartfelt student performances and poignant speeches acknowledging their combined 77 years of service, the community dedicated the evening to expressing their respect, gratitude, and affection for the Youngbloods. In attendance were students, families, all members of the district administration and board of trustees, administration staff including Youngblood ES principal Charlotte Gilder, and members of the Youngblood family.
“We are thrilled to have played a role in the development of this build,” said John Marshall, S&P Chief Revenue Officer. “Given Katy ISD’s considerable growth, we are proud to deliver this essential facility to the community.”
Katy ISD accommodates 94,000 students, and with ongoing housing expansions attracting families, an additional 2,000 students are projected annually. The growth has stretched Katy’s current schools so new facilities are essential to maintain manageable class sizes and ensure high-quality instruction for all students. The new two-story elementary school spans 140,000 square feet and features three academic wings, a central media center with expansive windows, an innovative learning staircase, and a spacious multi-purpose gym/cafeteria equipped with a stage.
S&P was proud to collaborate with our partners at VLK Architects and Katy ISD on this special project, knowing that students & families will greatly benefit for years to come.
