S&P joins Austin ISD at Groundbreaking

Satterfield & Pontikes Construction (S&P) recently attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Austin ISD’s Northeast Early College High School and International High School project. Project team members from Vanir|STV, Perkins & Will and S&P joined students, teachers and Austin ISD board members to celebrate this significant milestone for both campuses.

“The investments we’re making here will benefit generations of future students, giving them the tools they need to succeed in college, career and beyond,” said Austin ISD Superintendent Matias Segura. “At Northeast and International, we’re not just making a few upgrades. It’s not just a little thing here and there. We’re investing in the whole student experience by giving students and teachers much-needed modernized spaces that fit today’s learning standards.”

These upgrades are funded by the district’s 2022 bond program, which aims to modernize multiple campuses across the district. Planned improvements to Northeast and International High Schools include a new turf field, renovations to athletic, academic, and administration spaces, expanded counseling support, wellness and career development spaces and security enhancements.

District 1’s District Director Eric Byrd added, “This isn’t just a groundbreaking. It’s a milestone and a longstanding commitment to invest in our young people in places where they grow, learn and prepare to lead.”

The project is scheduled for completion in 2028.
