S&P Celebrates Topping Out with Dallas ISD

SFP2, a joint venture between Satterfield & Pontikes Construction (S&P) and F&P Construction recently joined forces with our partners in Dallas ISD (DISD), Dikita Enterprises (Program Manager), and WRA Architects to celebrate the Topping Out ceremony of the new Judge Louis A. Bedford Jr. Law Academy.  The event brought together Louis A. Bedford III (son of Judge Bedford), Angela Bedford Walker (daughter of Judge Bedford), Dr. Wright the Executive Director of DISD, Brent Alfred the Chief of Construction Services, Principal Chantil Goree, dozens of teachers from Bedford Law team who all signed a steel beam with messages of encouragement for the new middle school.  This replacement school would not be possible without the support of Trustee Joyce Foreman and Dallas ISD Superintendent Dr. Elizade.

Funded by the district’s 2020 $3.2 billion bond program, the new 157,000 square-foot replacement facility features a tech-driven design. Centered around a fully functioning courtroom, the facility includes traditional classrooms, administrative offices, cafeteria, fine art classrooms, media center, library, auditorium and a 900-seat capacity competition gymnasium that will serve as a storm shelter for the school. Once the new building is completed, the current school building will be demolished to make way for a new parking lot and baseball field for the campus.

“It takes a tremendous amount of collaboration and work to pull a project like this together. The portion that we provide, construction of the new school, is really the culmination of everyone’s contributions” said S&P’s project executive Mike Barbour. “The work that goes into these projects before we ever arrive on site is tremendous. It often takes years of hard work and effort by so many people who are involved in the development and design of a facility like this. We are so thankful to the district and the entire team to be involved in this project.”

After its completion in 2025, the new facility will accommodate 850 students in grades sixth through eighth.
