S&P Celebrates the Topping Out of Amy Coleman Middle School

Satterfield & Pontikes Construction (S&P) celebrated alongside Fort Bend ISD (FBISD) the topping out of Amy Coleman Middle School. Fort Bend ISD’s 16th middle school is named in honor of the district’s first Black female principal, Amy Coleman.

The 235,325 square-foot facility will consist of two floors of classrooms, a fine arts hall, two gymnasiums, two football fields and four tennis courts.

Notable attendees for this major project milestone included the Coleman family, FBISD Board Vice President Angie Hanan, Secretary Dr. Shirley Rose-Gilliam, Trustee Afshi Charania and other district leaders.

“A topping out is the completion of the building’s highest structural feature, but this celebration means more than that,” said Charlie Fote, S&P’s Chief Operating Officer. “It’s really pausing to take a moment to recognize and honor what this team has accomplished together.”

Following Fote’s remarks, FBISD Deputy Superintendent of Operations Kathleen Brown and FBISD Executive Director Dan Bankhead expressed their excitement about the progress of the new school.

“I’d like to thank our design and construction team. We appreciate all of you,” said Brown. “They are working alongside of the architects to make sure that this school is built to the highest standards possible and making sure that it’s the quality that would be expected for our namesake Amy Coleman.”

Amy Coleman Middle School is scheduled to open in August 2026.
