S&P Celebrates Groundbreaking of Montgomery County Mental Health Treatment Facility Expansion

Satterfield & Pontikes Construction (S&P) had the honor of attending the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Montgomery County Mental Health Treatment Facility Expansion (MHTF).

Notable in attendance was Nelda Blair, Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack, Sheriff Wesley Doolittle, S&P President Nic Flannery, S&P Vice President of Healthcare Jeff Brooks, Recovery Solutions President Jeremy Barr, County Judge Mark Keough.

“This project is more than just construction. It’s about the people,” says Nic Flannery, S&P President. “Every day we face the growing mental health crisis, and our industry knows this firsthand and that is why we’re passionate about delivering projects like this.”

Located in Conroe, the 51,085 square foot expansion to the Montgomery County MHTF will allow room for 100 more beds. This facility expands inpatient capacity from what was originally 3,300 patients from 79 counties to 4300 patients from across 140 counties that represents 55% of Texas counties.

“There’s a shared belief amongst all of us that people with mental illness can and do recover,” says Jeremy Barr. “Together we’re building more than just a hospital. We’re building more than beds. We’re building a hope, opportunity, and a stronger future for Texas.”

S&P is proud to be working on this life-changing project alongside Montgomery County and BSW Architects. The project is expected to be completed in Winter 2026.
