Satterfield & Pontikes Celebrates Topping-out Milestone for New Dallas Love Field ARFF Station 21

Satterfield and Pontikes was excited to attend the topping-out ceremony for the new Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Station 21 at Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL), marking a key milestone in the replacement of the airport’s aging fire station infrastructure.

Originally constructed in the 1960s, the existing ARFF Station 21 is located on the north side of the airfield and currently houses six Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) vehicles, including four ARFF apparatus in four pull-through bays. After decades of dedicated service, the facility no longer meets the evolving needs of the airport, prompting the City of Dallas and the Department of Aviation to pursue a modern, consolidated solution.

The Fire Station #21 and Love Field Operations Building project will deliver a new, state-of-the-art facility that co-locates ARFF Station 21 personnel and functions with the Department of Aviation’s Airside Operations Division. Designed for efficiency and sustainability, the new station will replace the outdated structure while supporting the airport’s ongoing Crossfield Taxiway Project, which reconfigures midfield taxiways to meet current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) design standards. The relocated fire station ensures continued compliance with FAA aircraft emergency response time requirements.

“We are thrilled to reach this milestone alongside our valued partners,” said Jason Haralson, VP of Operations at Satterfield & Pontikes. “This project will integrate modern design with operational efficiency to serve the growing demands of Dallas Love Field.”
We are grateful to our partners at the City of Dallas, Dallas Love Field Airport, PGAL, and HNTB for their collaboration and commitment to this important initiative.

The project is expected to be completed in Spring 2026
