Project Spotlight: Boerne High School Expansion
Navigating Challenges, Enhancing Education
In a significant development for Boerne Independent School District, 19,638 square feet of new building addition is underway at Boerne High School. This ambitious project also includes minor renovations within the existing building and site work upgrades. This new facility will feature six classrooms, two nursing labs with a prep room, two science labs with a prep room, two flex spaces, and a covered outdoor courtyard designed to enhance student interaction.
One considerable challenge encountered during the project involved the new underground storm drainage clashing with existing underground electrical primary service. Collaborative efforts between the City, Engineers, District, and trade partners successfully resolved the matter. This challenge highlighted the team’s proactive problem-solving approach. Proactive measures also include looking ahead at possible challenges and holding trade partners accountable for committed deadlines, which have been instrumental in maintaining the project schedule.
The project’s location at the back of the campus has presented unique challenges due to limited space to build and navigate the project site. The art building that is within the construction limits has necessitated creative approaches to maintain availability for students and staff to occupy it during the school year. Despite facing constraints, S&P is successfully navigating the project site, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing school activities.
