S&P Attends Sheldon ISD’s 9th and 10th Grade Campus Topping Out Ceremony
Satterfield & Pontikes Construction (S&P) proudly celebrated alongside Sheldon ISD the beam signing of the new 9th and 10th grade campus. As the general contractor, S&P is honored to partner with Sheldon ISD and Huckabee Architects to bring this purpose-built facility to life.
The celebration began with the Posting of the colors by the King High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC). Sheldon ISD Superintendent Dr. Demetrius McCall then welcomed and thanked attendees joining the celebration.
“Today we celebrate a milestone in our journey to creating a learning environment that supports our students and honors our community,” said Dr. McCall. “This beam we will soon sign represents the framework of the opportunity that we’re building together.”
Following Dr. McCall remarks, Board President Latricia Archie-Bailey, LAN Sr. Program Manager Michael J. Scott, and Huckabee Architect Principal Tim Barnes shared their remarks on the importance of the projects final beam.
On behalf of S&P, John Marshall, Chief Revenue Officer remarked, “It’s one of the best days in the life of a project. After you have dealt with all the unknowns and managed the risk, you now have a clear path to the finish line. That’s what we’re celebrating today.”
C.E. King 9th Grade Principal Jeralan Kannady II and future student Rebecca Vazquez spoke on the importance of what the final beam means to them. “This beam symbolizes the strong foundation that we’re creating, not just in construction but also in the opportunities and experiences that awaits our students,” says Kannady.
“This building is more than just a campus, it represents hope, growth and the belief that every student deserves a place where they can dream big and achieve even bigger,” says Vasquez. “This building shows that our dreams matter, no matter where we come from and with the right support there is no limit to what we can as a community achieve.”
The event concluded with the signing of the beam. The new 9th and 10th grade campus will open in the 2026-27 school year. The campus will accommodate an enrollment of approximately 2,200 students. The facility will feature four academy centers: Public Service Leaders, Agriculture Careers in Education, Future Business Leaders and Medicine Experience Dedication as well as a career and technical education wing, multiple gyms, fine art spacers for theater, art, choir, dance/cheer, and a library.
