Overview

Satterfield & Pontikes Construction’s award-winning Class A office building, one of the first commercial buildings in Houston constructed using Building Information Modeling (BIM), is a three-story, 65,000 SF LEED Gold cast-in-place concrete structure. The project, with a rigorous schedule set by Satterfield & Pontikes, was completed in slightly more than 10 months. This extremely aggressive schedule required multiple phases of construction to be underway simultaneously. This highly collaborative process required close coordination between the owner, the architect, consultants, and the builder. BIM allowed for the creation of a 3-dimensional design model, daily schedule modifications and rapid project adjustments.

CENTER OF EXCELLENCE IN COMMERCIAL

This integrated team, with a strong focus on streamlining the design, documentation and construction process stretched the envelope towaard a true BIM process. Though our office has embraced BIM for many years, this was the first fully integrated project with starched the concept of BIM from rendering and documentation automation to 3D coordination, 4D cost estimating and 5D construction scheduling.
