Overview
This design-build project provides 12 maintenance bays purpose-built for the medium-altitude, long-endurance Gray Eagle aircraft. Designed and constructed to meet LEED Silver certification, the facility incorporates a high-efficiency building envelope, HVAC, lighting and electrical systems, and a solar domestic hot water/plumbing system. The UAS hangar bay itself is a pre-engineered metal building with roughly 92,000 SF of open area, anchored by a 276-foot-long, 28-foot-deep main truss that provides a clear height of 35 feet from the top of slab to the bottom of the truss.
S&P achieved a high level of quality throughout construction by partnering closely with RS&H, subcontractors, and the USACE Fort Worth District’s project staff. Rigorous attention to accurate submittals and strict adherence to the USACE preparatory and three-phase inspection process kept the project properly planned and executed at every stage, resulting in a high-quality facility delivered on time, within budget, and without a single accident.
