General Engineering & Building Contracting Today Magazine Features S&P Leadership

A special section of the most recent General Engineering & Building Contracting Today magazine features three Satterfield & Pontikes leadership team members. The May 24/31, 2021 issue titled “Woes and Victories” includes a completed Cypress Park High School cover photo.

Satterfield & Pontikes president Clay Morel explains how 2020 provided a unique opportunity for expansion in an article titled “Establishing Structured Excellence.” He says, “We took advantage of the changes COVID-19 brought and focused on our strategic plan. In a year when most companies pulled back, we chose to hire and prepare.”

Vice-President John Marshall and Charles Reagan, director of preconstruction, were also interviewed in another article titled “Overcoming the Damage and Preparing for the Future.” Reagan explained how Satterfield & Pontikes dealt with pandemic price increases and supply chain delays. “Early and bulk procurement are easy targets when prices are still on the rise, but you have to stay in touch with the market to make sure that you are not purchasing at the high point,” he said.

The article reports that while construction employment as a whole was down in 2021, Satterfield & Pontikes was growing. Marshall told the publication, “We went all-in on Texas. It was not emotional; Texas has been and continues to be a growing state, and the slowdown was only because of the pandemic, not because of economic forces.”
