Overview

The construction of a new three-story, 176,000 SF middle school in Dallas accommodates 1,224 students and includes 27 core academic and special education classrooms, a career education classroom, an instructional technology classroom, an alternative education classroom, a media center, performing and visual arts space, and a 450-seat auditorium. The exterior grounds are home to baseball and football fields, a running track and tennis courts which are not only used by Hector Garcia students, but students from neighboring schools as well. The total complex covers 13.4 acres.

The school was the district’s first “green” building and at completion was the largest school in Texas to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certification.
